Data Security
We Secure Your Business Data Files As Follows:
All Backup Files are Encrypted (Made Unreadable)
All data files prior to being sent from your computer are encrypted. Encryption is the process of changing the data into an unreadable format. The process can only be reversed using a secret password key that only you have. (The method of encryption used is called Advanced Encryption Standard or AES, which is an encryption standard approved by the US Government for the protection of secret information.)
Your Data Travels On A Secure Internet Connection
The connection between your computer and Lifesaver Backups' Servers is secured using the same technology that is used when you connect to your online bank account. (Most banks use the same 128 bit Secure Socket Layer connection method.)
Lose Your Password and You Have Lost Your Data
The data is stored on the Lifesaver Backups' Servers in the encrypted format. Decryption is only possible with your unique password, and without this even Lifesaver Backups is unable to decrypt your data.
Protection of Your Files On Our Servers
Lifesaver Backups place your encrypted data onto one of our secure backup servers. Our servers are set up such that if one hard drive fails, your data is not lost and the server will still function. Additionally each secure backup server is duplicated to a second secure backup server, where copies are again stored in such a manner that one of the hard drives can fail with no data loss.
State of the Art Australian Data Centre
Our backup servers are housed at Global Switch one of the most secure and advanced data centre facilities in Australia. Situated in Ultimo, Sydney this state-of-the-art facility was built for around $160 million in 2002.
